Congratulations to John Ågren, who has been elected to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Formal inductions into the academy will take place on September 30, 2018, in Washington, D.C., during a ceremony at the NAE annual meeting. Election into this prestigious group is considered to be one of the highest honours an engineer can receive in their career.

Dr. Ågren is one of the original developers of Thermo-Calc and recently joined the company as a Senior Scientific Adviser. He is also a professor of materials science and engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH, Stockholm, Sweden, and is being honoured by the NAE “for development of integrated thermodynamics and kinetics analysis tools enabling computational materials engineering.”

Dr. Ågren has received many awards throughout his illustrious career, including the TMS William Hume-Rothery Award in 2011, the NIMS award in 2017 and election into the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences in 2006. Congratulations to Dr. Ågren on this momentous achievement.
